Q&A: Little Frank

The couple that works together stays together, and Little Frank and Autumn are engaged to be married in the Summer of 2006. How convenient to have a partner capable of adding new pieces to your canvas anytime the mood strikes.

How long have you been doing Tattoos?

Three years now.

What was the first tattoo you gave another person?

I put a small butterfly on Autumn’s ankle.

Do you have a favorite style or genre you like to work in?

I like doing realistic pieces with lots of color. Of course if the client wants black and white, we can do that as well.

Are there any artists out there who inspire you?

There are several pieces done by Scott Winske in the lobby, and his style and way of using colors are some of my favorites.

What was your largest or best known piece?

My largest piece is my best known right now. Using black, gray and colors we did a full-back piece in an oriental theme.

See any changes in the tattoo world coming down the pike?

I see improved regulations on sterility in the field, as well as more education being offered and taken to comply and expand. The less people fear about infections the more eager they’ll be to get some ink of their own.

Tell us about your history before opening this shop.

I actually worked in the home health care industry before doing tattoos. I began body piercing in 1999, then headed into the ink arena in 2003. That’s when I opened my first shop, although we moved to this building only three months ago.

What can you tell us about your art background?

I actually have no formal training in the art world. Never took classes in school or after. My grandfather had a tattoo and it always fascinated me. I began wanting to get and do tattoos when I was only nine.
